A box\nlike this makes a great base for adding all kinds of decorations!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To start off, I lined the entire inside of the lid and the box with <a href=\"\/products\/pro-sheen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro\u00ae Sheen (opens in a new tab)\">Pro\u00ae Sheen<\/a> in Red. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Line-the-inside-of-your-jewelry-box-with-pro-sheen-in-red.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery3229\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Line-the-inside-of-your-jewelry-box-with-pro-sheen-in-red-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Line the inside of your jewelry box with Pro\u00ae Sheen in Red\" class=\"wp-image-3237\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Line the inside of your jewelry box with Pro\u00ae Sheen in Red<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The neat thing about Pro\u00ae Sheen is that it layers really\nwell. So don\u2019t get anxious about the \u201cperfect\u201d way to cut and lay the Pro\u00ae\nSheen down. I just focused on cutting short strips and filling in my blank\nspaces one strip at a time, smoothing them out as I go. <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Paint the Outside of Your Box with Pink Craft Paint<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s no need to buy expensive professional-grade acrylic\npaints for this step! Regular craft paints will do just fine. I grabbed a\n\u201cDusty Rose\u201d pink paint and mixed a little White into it, so that it would match\nthe cardstock I\u2019ll use on the lid later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then I took my inexpensive foam brush, and painted the\nsides, tops, and edges (carefully!) One coat of paint seemed to be enough for\nme, but you can let it dry and apply a second coat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Paint-the-outside-of-your-jewelry-box-with-pink-crafters-paint.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery3229\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Paint-the-outside-of-your-jewelry-box-with-pink-crafters-paint-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Paint the outside of your jewelry box with pink crafter's paint\" class=\"wp-image-3239\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Paint the outside of your jewelry box with pink crafter&#8217;s paint<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure to let your paint dry completely before going onto\nthe next step! Depending on weather conditions in your room, it could take more\nor less time. My guess is 30 minutes in a hot room, at least 1 hour in colder\nrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Attach your Floral Cardstock to your Lid with Pro\u00ae 965<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Personally, I\u2019m quickly becoming a fan of <a href=\"\/products\/pro-965\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro\u00ae 965 Hi-Tack tape (opens in a new tab)\">Pro\u00ae 965 Hi-Tack tape<\/a> for any time I need to attach something quickly, easily, but also permanently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, measure out the top of our lid. I already knew my lid\nshould be 3\u201d x 3\u201d, but I measured again just to make sure. Then I traced out\nthe right size and shape on the back of my Pink Floral cardstock, then cut it\nout. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Use-Pro-965-to-help-attach-your-Pink-Floral-Cardstock-to-your-lid-securely.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery3229\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Use-Pro-965-to-help-attach-your-Pink-Floral-Cardstock-to-your-lid-securely-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Use Pro\u00ae 965 to help attach your Pink Floral Cardstock to your lid securely\" class=\"wp-image-3241\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Use Pro\u00ae 965 to help attach your Pink Floral Cardstock to your lid securely<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I cut out strips of <a href=\"\/products\/pro-965\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro\u00ae 965 (opens in a new tab)\">Pro\u00ae 965<\/a> and stuck it in the corners of my lid, and peeled off the liner. Then I carefully and slowly placed my cut-out Pink Floral cardstock on top, making sure it aligned neatly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Press-down-on-the-Pink-Cardstock-to-help-secure-it.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery3229\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Press-down-on-the-Pink-Cardstock-to-help-secure-it-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Press down on the Pink Cardstock to help secure it\" class=\"wp-image-3242\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Press down on the Pink Cardstock to help secure it<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4: Make the Inside of your Jewelry Box with Pro\u00ae Felt<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that the outside of our box is completed, we need to\nprepare the really impressive part \u2013 the felt-covered inside for display our\njewelry!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this step, we need cardboard (preferably the thinner kind), <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro\u00ae 965 (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"\/products\/pro-965\" target=\"_blank\">Pro\u00ae 965<\/a>, and <a href=\"\/products\/pro-felt-tape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro\u00ae Felt (opens in a new tab)\">Pro\u00ae Felt<\/a> Tape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, I measured out strips on my cardboard that would be\nthe same width was the box for the length (3\u201d), and 1\u201d wide. I cut out several\nstrips, including some extra in case I needed more. To make them round (for the\nfelt \u201cbumps\u201d), I rolled the cardboard strips on my table and pinched them to\nmake them keep their rounder shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Cut-out-your-cardboard-strips-and-roll-them-to-make-the-bumps.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery3229\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Cut-out-your-cardboard-strips-and-roll-them-to-make-the-bumps-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Cut out your cardboard strips and roll them to make the bumps\" class=\"wp-image-3244\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Cut out your cardboard strips and roll them to make the bumps<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Next I measured out 3\u201d long strips of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro\u00ae Felt (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"\/products\/pro-felt-tape\" target=\"_blank\">Pro\u00ae Felt<\/a>. I was able to mark off the 3\u201d mark with a black Sharpie, and cut out as many strips as I needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I applied the Pro\u00ae Felt strips along the cardboard strips, then I trimmed any excess tape or cardboard off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Cover-your-cardboard-strips-with-Pro-Felt.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery3229\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Cover-your-cardboard-strips-with-Pro-Felt-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Cover your cardboard strips with Pro\u00ae Felt\" class=\"wp-image-3245\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Cover your cardboard strips with Pro\u00ae Felt<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, we need to attach our <a href=\"\/products\/pro-felt-tape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro\u00ae Felt (opens in a new tab)\">Pro\u00ae Felt<\/a>-covered-cardboard-strips onto a cardboard base which we will place inside our box. Again, I knew my box was 3\u201d x 3\u201d, so I cut out that size square from my cardboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, cutting the exact size of your box means this\ncardboard base probably wont fit perfectly *inside* the box. That\u2019s why I\ngrabbed my X-Acto knife and self-healing cutting board, and trimmed the edges\ndown a little bit at a time, periodically testing it out by trying to fit the\ncardboard base into my box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once my base fit, I covered it with <a href=\"\/products\/pro-965\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro\u00ae 965 (opens in a new tab)\">Pro\u00ae 965<\/a> on one side and peeled the liner. Now the base is ready to attach our Pro\u00ae Felt-covered strips!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Attach-your-Pro-Felt-covered-cardboard-strips-to-your-cardboard-base.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery3229\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Attach-your-Pro-Felt-covered-cardboard-strips-to-your-cardboard-base-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Attach your Pro\u00ae Felt covered cardboard strips to your cardboard base\" class=\"wp-image-3247\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Attach your Pro\u00ae Felt covered cardboard strips to your cardboard base<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I started up at the top and attached my first <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro\u00ae Felt (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"\/products\/pro-felt-tape\" target=\"_blank\">Pro\u00ae Felt<\/a> strip. You want to keep the felt strip pinched into a rounded position as you place it onto the base, then press firmly down so it sticks to the <a href=\"\/products\/pro-965\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro\u00ae 965 (opens in a new tab)\">Pro\u00ae 965<\/a>. Watching the video above for this step will really help illustrate how to do this!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I continued adding one strip at a time, lining them up \u201cflush\u201d\nor perfectly side-by-side, one bump after another. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once it\u2019s finished, you should have something that reminds\nyou of jewelry boxes you\u2019ve previously seen! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/This-is-what-the-completed-Pro-Felt-jewelry-holder-piece-looks-like.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery3229\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/This-is-what-the-completed-Pro-Felt-jewelry-holder-piece-looks-like-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"This is what the completed Pro\u00ae Felt jewelry holder piece looks like!\" class=\"wp-image-3249\"\/><\/a><figcaption>This is what the completed Pro\u00ae Felt jewelry holder piece looks like!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Before we can put this in our box, you may need to trim some\nexcess cardboard or felt off to make sure it fits into the box perfectly. Time\nto use our X-Acto knife and cutting board again! Really take your time doing\nthis, and be careful with that knife! If you\u2019re doing this craft with children,\nyou should definitely do this step for them if they\u2019re under 12 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your felt base is all trimmed up, go ahead and slide it\ndown into the box! And believe it or not\u2026 that\u2019s the final step! This Valentine\u2019s\nDay craft is THAT simple!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Finished Product: Just Add in Some Jewelry!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you can go ahead and test out your new DIY jewelry box.\nYou can put in rings, earrings, necklaces \u2013 anything you can stick between the\nfelt bumps to hold them securely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you can stop it off by tying on a ribbon, or add your own\ndecorations with other tape!
