This is the design we came up with, but you can always cook up your own imaginative design! Remember, you can always adjust your design mid-way (like we did) because tape is easy to peel off and re-stick wherever you need it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then we gathered all of our craft supplies together, from the scissors and coin battery, to our <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"\/products\/pro-46\" target=\"_blank\">Pro<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> 46<\/a> (crepe paper tape), <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"\/products\/pro-sheen\" target=\"_blank\">Pro<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Sheen<\/a> and <a href=\"\/products\/pro-882l\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Pro<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> 882L<\/a> (conductive copper tape.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/tape-over-your-book-cover.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery2976\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/tape-over-your-book-cover.jpg\" alt=\"Tape over your book cover from front to back\" class=\"wp-image-2987\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Tape Over the Cover of Your Book<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Grab your hardcover book \u2013 whatever size of book you like. We picked up this old copy of Dan Brown\u2019s \u201cThe Da Vinci Code\u201d in Russian (a pretty spooky way to start, right?) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Begin by choosing a base color to \u201cwrap\u201d your book cover from front to back with. We chose <a href=\"\/products\/pro-46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Pro<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> 46<\/a> crepe paper tape (in this nice bright shade of purple!) to wrap our book. Pro<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> 46 has a nice texture, and it\u2019s easy to peel up and re-position as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go ahead and completely tape over your front cover, spine, and back cover. Smooth it down with your fingers. Use your scissors to cut any excess away. You can even fill in the inside cover with the same color, or a different one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Create Decorative Elements with Tape<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you can start making decorative elements out of tape! We wanted to have this big spooky eye smack dab in the middle of our cover, so we cut it out of white <a href=\"\/pro-gaff-tape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Pro<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Gaff<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/create-your-different-elements-out-of-tape.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery2976\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/create-your-different-elements-out-of-tape.jpg\" alt=\"create your different elements out of tape\" class=\"wp-image-2992\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s the secret to cutting any shape neatly out of tape?<\/strong> You have to stick it down first! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take your tape and lay it out in several sheets on your table or work surface, making sure each strip overlaps the previous one a little bit. If you&#8217;re creating a big shape, make a second layer on top so the whole thing is nice and sturdy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then you can peel the whole thing up and cut it with scissors, just like you would cut paper! When you&#8217;re done, you can stick your cut-out shape onto anything. Or you can add more tape layers on top, like we did for the eye using <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"\/products\/pro-pocket-spike-stack-fluorescent\" target=\"_blank\">Pro<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Spike<\/a>. We used a Sharpie to color in the pupil of our eye, and to write out &#8220;Spells&#8221; on our book label. See 1:20 on the video for how we created our book label, and 2:07 for writing in &#8220;Spells.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/edges-corners-and-book-spine-with-pro-sheen.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery2976\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/edges-corners-and-book-spine-with-pro-sheen.jpg\" alt=\"edges corners and book spine with pro sheen\" class=\"wp-image-2996\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p> We added many more decorations to our book with tape &#8211; like shiny corners and a shiny spine using different colors of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/products\/pro-sheen\" target=\"_blank\">Pro<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Sheen<\/a>.  <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/368848247\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Watch the video<\/a> to see how we added borders and shapes on our cover, too. You really can make anything with tape (with a little patience and imagination!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/use-uglu-to-stick-on-shiny-gems-and-other-decorations.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery2976\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/use-uglu-to-stick-on-shiny-gems-and-other-decorations.jpg\" alt=\"use uglu to stick on shiny gems and other decorations\" class=\"wp-image-2997\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can stick objects to your spellbook using <a href=\"\/products\/uglu-600-dashes-sheets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">UGlu<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Dashes<\/a>, too! We wanted to add some shiny gems to our design, and dashes were the way to go. It was way easier (and way less messy) using UGlu<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Dashes to stick these gems on than if we had used a hot glue gun or modge podge. And it&#8217;s safer for adults and kids alike to use! You can get creative and add some spiders or snakes or other creepy and interesting things to your spellbook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4: Make it Glow, Baby!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you watched <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/368848247\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">the video<\/a>, we bet you&#8217;re wondering how we made our spooky eye glow bright green. Well it&#8217;s time to reveal our secret!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All you need are some individual LED lights, a coin battery, some conductive copper tape like our <a href=\"\/products\/pro-882l\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Pro<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> 882L<\/a>, and some Pro<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Gaff to cover it up and tape the whole thing together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/led-lights-coin-battery-and-pro-882l-conductive-copper-tape-for-makerspace.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery2976\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/led-lights-coin-battery-and-pro-882l-conductive-copper-tape-for-makerspace.jpg\" alt=\"led lights coin battery and pro 882l conductive copper tape for makerspace\" class=\"wp-image-3005\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Each LED light has two wire legs. You&#8217;ll need to attach one leg to one side of the coin battery, and the other leg to the other side. We arranged our LED lights around the battery, then used Pro<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> 882L to stick the legs down to each side. The conductive copper tape ensures each LED light will get plenty of juice. Then we used black Pro<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Gaff to cover our glowing contraption up, and stuck it to the center of our eyeball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/make-it-glow-with-led-and-copper-tape.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery2976\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/make-it-glow-with-led-and-copper-tape.jpg\" alt=\"make it glow with led and copper tape\" class=\"wp-image-3000\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ta-da!
