Read\nto find out more\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/tie-dye-with-tape-01.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery2900\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/tie-dye-with-tape-01.jpg\" alt=\"A white tshirt, Pro Gaff\u00ae tape, and Rit fabric dye, all ready for our tie-dye tshirt project!\" class=\"wp-image-2904\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A white tshirt, Pro Gaff\u00ae tape, and Rit fabric dye, all ready for our tie-dye tshirt project!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This weekend, I wanted to see if I could create the classic tie-dye tshirt craft using <a href=\"\/pro-gaff-tape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro Gaff\u00ae (opens in a new tab)\">Pro Gaff<\/a><sup><a href=\"\/pro-gaff-tape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro Gaff\u00ae (opens in a new tab)\">\u00ae<\/a><\/sup> tape. So I got my white tshirts, some Rit<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> fabric dye, and three different sizes of Pro Gaff<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> tape to put to the test: \u00bc inch, 1 inch and 2 inch.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Method #1: Classic Spiral Twist Tie-Dye <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>First, I tried your standard spiral dye and striping dye. Except here, I didn&#8217;t use any rubber bands &#8211; only <a href=\"\/pro-gaff-tape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro Gaff\u00ae (opens in a new tab)\">Pro Gaff<\/a><sup><a href=\"\/pro-gaff-tape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro Gaff\u00ae (opens in a new tab)\">\u00ae<\/a><\/sup>!!&nbsp;For this method, pinch the center of your white shirt and twist it until you\u2019ve reach the end, then tuck in the edges. Tightly wrap a few pieces of pre-ripped Pro Gaff<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> around your twisted tee.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Method #2: Scrunch &amp; Tape Dye<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Fold your shirt (or just tightly scrunch it together), then tightly bind the shirt together using <a href=\"\/pro-gaff-tape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro Gaff\u00ae (opens in a new tab)\">Pro Gaff<\/a><sup><a href=\"\/pro-gaff-tape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro Gaff\u00ae (opens in a new tab)\">\u00ae<\/a><\/sup>. Do this repeatedly down the length of the shirt. Just leave some space between each piece of tape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For both Methods #1 and #2, I submerged the\nshirts in warm water for a little more than 30 minutes, occasionally\nstirring.&nbsp;Once lifted out of water, I did notice that the tapes which were\nonly stuck to the t-shirt fabric lost their stick and fell right off. <em>But<\/em> the areas where the tape stuck to\nitself (adhesive to adhesive) proved to be the most successful! I think this\nhelped create a seal against moisture and gave the Pro Gaff<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> extra strength. I hand ripped and cut the <a href=\"\/pro-gaff-tape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro Gaff\u00ae (opens in a new tab)\">Pro Gaff<\/a><sup><a href=\"\/pro-gaff-tape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro Gaff\u00ae (opens in a new tab)\">\u00ae<\/a><\/sup> tape to write out the word \u201clove\u201d and a zig zag design. I also used tape to pinch up a few gathered areas around the bottom of the t-shirt. I tested this method out on both a canvas tote and a cotton tee shirt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This time I did not submerge the fabrics in\nwater, I used a squirt bottle instead. I found that it worked the best if I did\nnot over-spray with the dye. It seems like too much dye starts to \u201cun-stick\u201d\nthe adhesive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If I were to do this method again, I would use a\nspray bottle instead of a squirt bottle. This way, you can have more control over\nthe amount of dye that comes out. I believe this would be very successful as\nlong as the fabric doesn&#8217;t absorb too much liquid too fast! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a class=\"imagegallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/tie-dye-with-tape-02.jpg\" rel=\"imagegallery2900\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protapes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/tie-dye-with-tape-02.jpg\" alt=\"All the different methods we tried for dyeing with Pro Gaff\u00ae tape! Some of the methods were a little more successful than others&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>All in all, I think using <a href=\"\/pro-gaff-tape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro Gaff\u00ae (opens in a new tab)\">Pro Gaff<\/a><sup><a href=\"\/pro-gaff-tape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pro Gaff\u00ae (opens in a new tab)\">\u00ae<\/a><\/sup> for tie-dye was a success! You just have to use it the right way. And I think the shirts look awesome!! What are your thoughts?
